Initial injury to 3 days post op
My initial injury that caused the beginning of all of my knee problems was a track injury in 7th grade. I was a long jumper, and at the state qualifying meet, I had my best jump ever! But unfortunately, when I landed in the sand pit, i dislocated me knee cap the first time. Long story short, after dealing with the pain of the frequent dislocations, my ortho doctor decided that the MPFL reconstruction was my best option. I scheduled the surgery, and it was performed on July 20 2015. I was released from the hospital the next morning. Since I have been home, I have been able to stop using the crutches, and I have stopped taking the prescribed pain killer. (I alternate tylenol and ibuprophen every 4-6 hours as needed instead.) I still take the prescribed anti inflammatory. The most difficult part of being home has been trying to shower. I feel so unstable without the brace! But i know that things will improve once I start physio this monday. I know that it will be tough, but the journey will be worth it in the end!
